> Generally, faux-functionality-or misleading users into clicking on an ad-is not permitted. Creative that contains graphic representations of "system" elements, typically encountered in a PC/Mac environment will not be accepted. True functionality ads should avoid use of MapQuest.com color schemes. The ads must include text such as "advertisement" (in the upper bar or top left-hand side of the banner) or "For more information, click here!" (With a cursor embedded into the image to encourage users to click there) and the advertiser's name (e.g. "from ABC company").
> Banners should be encased in a border and distinct from the content. If borderless, a banner must contain the advertiser's name to signify that it is an ad creative banner, not content. Ads may not have transparent backgrounds and may never blend into the screen content.
> MapQuest branding, logos, or proprietary image cannot be used within an ad banner.

> Must use an AOL-approved server including: AvenueA/Atlas DMT; Bluestreak; DoubleClick; MediaPlex; Pointdexter; X10.
> Third party ad servers must be in compliance with AOL's specified policy, guidelines and requirements.
> All art and redirect tags that call the third party ad server must be quality assured and pre-approved by AOL prior to the campaign start date.
> Any ad element that does not meet the specs will be returned for revision, which may result in a delay in the flight.
> Advertiser must adhere to AOL's privacy policy.
> Campaigns held to a maximum animation time of 6 seconds and 3 loops.

> All standard media (GIF, JPEG, and text) assets must be received three days prior to the ad start date.
> All rich media (refers to HTML and to Flash, Java applets, streaming video and interactivity) assets must be received five days prior to the ad start date.
> NOTE: If creative does not pass Quality Assurance, it will be sent back to the client for revision and could significantly increase the turn-around time. Please ensure clients strictly follow the AOL ad specs accordingly.
> MapQuest will test all creative prior to ad start date. Client may review creative 48 hours prior to ad start date.
